The Carpenters’ Company Charitable Trust awards educational grants and supports a wide range of other charitable causes.
Grants are awarded by the Company’s Charitable and Educational Grants Committee. Three members of the Company’s Court act as trustees of the Carpenters’ Company Charitable Trust and are members of the Committee. Educational grants can be awarded to students on woodworking courses, while a wide range of charitable causes are also supported including those dedicated to the elderly, disabled, homeless, young people and children as well as craft-related activities.
What we fund
Educational grants are awarded only for wood related courses undertaken in the UK. Awards are considered annually in July and no grants are awarded retrospectively. Currently the maximum grant per year awarded to a student is £2,400.
Grants awarded for charitable causes other than educational are considered annually in November. The closing date for the submission of completed forms is the last working day of October. Currently the maximum grant awarded is £3,250.
Applications are considered on several criteria, such as the work and financial position of the charity and that procedures are in line with good practice. Proposed projects will be assessed on their ability to satisfy a recognised need.
Exclusions
Grants are not normally made to individual churches or cathedrals, or to educational establishments having no association to the Carpenters' Company. No grants (except Educational grants) are made to individual applicants. Funds are usually only available to charities registered with the charity commission or exempt from registration.
